Epon Irons – Which is your favorite?

Epon is a brand that is synonymous with JDM quality and performance. Many members on TSG swear by its Endo Forged quality and designs. Because Epon is the private brand of Endo Manufacturing, no expense is spared when it comes to quality of steel, research and development, design and manufacturing. The results are irons that few brands can touch when it comes to feel and performance. Admittedly, Epon is a premium brand and its prestige and quality come with a price tag that can sometimes put it out of reach of many golfers.

Epon's iron lineup currently has choices for all levels of golfers and is actually growing in number of models. At this point, Epon has more iron offerings than it ever has in the past. There are currently 5 models in the lineup including two muscle backs in the new Personal Iron, the ever popular AF-Tour, the better player AF-302, mid-capper and improving player AF-502, and the average golfer AF-702. All irons are of course premium forged from S20C at Endo.

I have all the irons here for a photo shoot and its actually the first time I have had all models in front of me at once. Every model is beautifully crafted and designs well thought out so it made me think, which model is my favorite?

I decided to make a post and start a poll to see what TSG members and readers thought of their favorite Epon iron model. You don't have to own a set or play a set to choose. Jump over to our forum and vote on which Epon iron you think is best!

Hi, Tario,I have my set of irons ofAF702 now for just over a year now and wild horses could not drag them from me,that is how highly i think of them. Without doubt the very best set of irons i have ever had the joy to play with in my 65 years of playing this wonderful game,Many thanks,Roy.

The AF Tour blades look by far the superior of the irons. I think though most blades have a superior look about them compared to cavity backs.

They need to have more game-improvement irons – or at least come out with newer versions. They’ve had the 702s out for years – surely they can improve upon them by now.

The 702 is the newest model they have in the 02 series. It just came out last year to replace the 701, it is in fact newer than the 302 502 and AF-Tour.

These Epon irons looks great & I have my eyes on the 502 & 702 got to test it at the trial range which is best for me

Played the AF-Tours w/ KBS Tour shafts for 2 years. Probably the best set of irons I ever owned. Don’t know why I sold them. Will probably get anothger set in the near future. I am a afitter and club builder and have built several sets of EPONs. The 7 series is the longest iron by far! Those who spend the money are handsomely rewarded. I built a set of 301s for a friend of mine 2 years ago and he absolutely loves them. You can’t go wrong with any model, but personally, my vote is for the AF-Tour.
