Crazy Summer/Fall 2012 Update

Its been one hot summer with temperatures constantly in the mid to high 30's (Celcius) with lots of humidity on top of all that. I was lucky enough to get some time off last week to recharge the batteries but it was back to work this week with a visit on Monday to the new Crazy Showroom in Tokyo.

Adachi is the home to 4 Crazy buildings including the flagship shop, the actual factory, the main/head office, and now the newly opened showroom all within walking distance of one another.  The new showroom is the smallest building with the main purpose of acting as a showroom to showcase all Crazy's wonderful products. In front of the showroom as you can see in the picture above are even Crazy vending machines! For this blog post I'll talk about the new showroom where we will host our visitors from overseas who come for fittings as well as talk about some of the new products coming up in the next few months.

Parked outside the showroom were 3 of Crazy's company cars, a trio of nice Benz's. Right upon entering the showroom, there is a beautiful in wall aquarium that I am sure Tourspecgolfer would like very much. The corridor walls are lined with nice ornaments and art like displays which very much represent Crazy's image.

There is a new fitting studio at the show room. Their biggest hitting bay yet with launch monitors and simulators. Its not quite ready yet so I only snapped a quick picture of the glass doors heading inside. The fitting studio, reception area and a small waiting area make up the first floor. Crazy always has a very interesting taste in furniture I must say.

Walking past the reception area and up the stairs leads us to the actual showroom. Here you can pretty much find every product Crazy currently offers. I sat down and talked to or Crazy rep about some of the new up and coming releases.

Crazy has decided to re-release a couple of very popular products that customers still desire. Their original Crazy Skull Tour Caddy bag with matching headcovers will be available again next month. This is Crazy's biggest full sized staff bag and features a skull on the side with flames and a big Crazy cross on the front pocket. The Toyoshima wedge is one of the best wedges ever made. Hand grinded by master grinder Toyoshima-san at Crazy, it is always sold out within a week or two. Crazy has decided to make one final run, the 3rd edition, of the Toyoshima wedge with 20 sets only of 52+58 in satin with milled faces, which will be available in October but can be ordered now through TSG.  Within those 20 sets, 5 sets will be made with a raw flat black finish. As always the Toyoshima wedge can be made with any Crazy shaft including Crazy black wedge graphite, Crazy Sports Target Tour  Steel shafts and also custom color hand picked KBS Tour and C-taper shafts (black, silver and white).

Crazy has teamed up with cloting maker Edwin to make some very nice golf wear. Awesome pants and tops are available for special order through TSG.  Crazy has also teamed with Sanrio to bring the ladies a Hello Kitty Titanium driver with Hello Kitty high modulus shaft. According to our sales rep, this driver is quite long and has been more popular than expected here in Japan. I wonder if its too cute for the overseas market? Comment and let me know. The very classy Smart series caddy/cart bags have been very very popular, so much that Crazy has started making matching headcovers for each design. These will be available through TSG in September!

On the shaft side, the limited prototypes we have been offering, the 519, 513, 531 and 504 FW will soon be sold out no longer available. Moving ahead to October we will see 4-6 new retail model shafts as well as a new custom colors program called MY SHAFT. Customers will be able to special order (takes a month and there is an upcharge) any wood shaft in any color. So you can choose a red base with gold markings and logos or a pearl black base with red markings and logos or white with fire red accents.  I am contemplating getting a Longest Yard Hot Black with Red base and silver accents.  Along with the MY  SHAFT program, Crazy regularly experiments with prototype graphics and designs which are now also available to TSG customers only. The two images above the custom colors feature Royal Decoration shafts made in the "Tachibana" design as well as the "Ryu-Dragon" design. As we get closer to October I will preview the new retail models on the blog.

So as always it looks like exciting times for Crazy. The new FW and Utility will be available in September and the Crazy 435R in late October. New shafts, new customization options and lots of new accessories and bags and clothes. Feel free to comment here or on the forum about what you think of the new Crazy showroom as well as up and coming products!

In the meantime here are more pictures!

Well if you ever need a 2 handicap tester here in Phila, Pa. USA I’d love to test those Crazy Blades I see above. I wonder which forging house did those? They definitely have some CRAZY showroom…. I mean that in a good way, very bling bling!

I love crazy as a golf manufacturing company, I would totally rep that driver if they offered it in left hand. I also find their design and style very cool. The only problem I see is their high prices, it seems that their target market is the really rich people of japan and perhaps other countries who play golf, I think this follows the demographic that in general only rich businessmen play golf in Japan, as opposed to America where most people can play golf.
