Our Taylormade Japan Burner Forged demo irons arrived today just in time for a beautiful day of picture taking. This soft S25C iron features USGA approved V Grooves and a very slick satin finish.  The new Burner Forged is a modern looking iron doesn't have some of the flashy colors of TM Burner irons of past which is a good thing as its clean design is very eye catching. This is a solid iron with NO pocket cavity. It is  slightly larger than the current TP Forged in all its dimensions  but still a smaller cavity back. I'd say its an iron for the better player wanting forgiveness and something a little larger than a compact cavity as there is some offset and the top line is not thin by any means. Feel is very good and reminds me of the soft yet solid feel of the last generation Tourstage ViQ Forged except in a smaller more modern looking package.

The Burner Forged looks to be one of TM's best forged offerings yet in Japan and is already showing a high number of pre orders before its shipping date in Mid October. It's already in the pro shop here.

Your Messagei was told japan clubs come from the factory 2 degrees flat compared to the u.s. versions. will the burner forged be std (compared to u.s.)? also, can i have them adjust loft and lie at the factory when i order? when will they be available?

Hi Randy, There is no “standard” for lie as lie will vary from any brand to brand whether US or Japanese. As for Japanese being flatter by 2* that is not true at all. For example the Burner forged has a 61* 5 iron lie which is in fact 0.5* more upright than the US Tour Preferred iron which has a 60.5* 5 iron lie. As I noted in the post they begin shipping in mid October (around the 13th). You need to know what your actual lie to see if you need adjusting.

    Few questions:
    1. I am assuming the factory Nippon shaft couldn’t be replaced by a DG w/ sensicore S300 or KBS tour shaft at the factory? If so, what is the upcharge?
    2. Is a AW available with this set?
    3. How similar in feel is the R9 and the Forged Burner?
    4. I don’t believe I would need much more than 2* adjustment from standard lie, if any at all, what is the maximum adjustment up or down?
    5. Last, I currently play Mizuno MX 23s and want to find something with similar forged feel but possibly a bit more forgiving and a bit longer. Do you have any recommendations?
