Shingo Katayama’s Asics Golf Shoes to be Released in November!

asicsbannerAsics Japan has finally made it official. After months of wait and many many interested golfers, Asics has announced the official release of their new golf shoe that was worn by Shingo Katayama back at the Masters. The lineup will include 3 models including the top model Gelace Top which is what Shigno wears.

The Gelace Top will be available as follows:

Colors: White x Green, White x Silver, Black x Silver
Sizes: 24.5cm to 28.0 cm in 0.5cm increments
Materials: Reinforced Artificial leather, Urethane Sole with Alpha Gel
Price: 225.00USD

As you can see from the specs above, the bad news is for those overseas customers with bigger feet. The Asics will be for the Japan market only hence only sizes up to 28cm or 10.5US

Asics has taken the time to use research and development acquired in the company's many years of running shoe experience to create a golf shoe that reduces fatigue with features that also enhance the stability during the golf swing. The specially designed urethane sole is separated into four parts to disperse and balance the load of the players weight. The sole features Asics patented αGEL (alpha gel) which helps reduce load on the legs.  The Gelace Top also features a plastic reinforcement between the heel part from the plantar arch. This reduces the excessive twisting of the feet during the swing by increasing rigidity around the heel part. The Gelace Top has soft gel in the toe, arch and heel area to close any gaps betteen the feet and insole. The sole also features replaceable Scorpion Stinger Spikes.

Asics is preparing to make 10,000 of the Gelace Top shoes which they believe they can sell out due to Shingo's enormous popularity in Japan. In addition to the Gelace Top there will also be a lower end Gelace Tour model (195.00) and a Lady Gelace (165.00) for women.

Tourspecgolf Golf to Impress will have the new Asics for preorder so be sure to reserve your pair early to avoid disappointment. You will be able to order them in the Pro Shop starting early next week.

    This are brilliant and sorely needed. I have noticed that Nike and Footjoy shoes have gotten a bit stale and if you want a good waterproof shoe expect on dropping $200+. Get these Asics over hear. Competition spurs on creativity. inginuity and lower prices!!! Go Asics!! Been using Asics running shoes for 20 years. This is goog new/ Asic should also get into the apparel business and then maybe even the bag and glove business for deeper maker penetration. Good luck. We will be watching.

    @brent holden:

    Unfortunately he manufacturers make and produce the shoes, we just sell them. So we have no say in what sizes they produce. Mizuno, Tourstage, Asics, they pretty much make sizes up to 28cm as these shoes are after all for the Japanese market.
