Tiger Woods Agrees To Play in Notah Begay’s Charity Skins Game

If you follow the PGA Tour at all, you're probably well aware by now that Tiger Woods has always been a bit, well, reluctant to play in some of the smaller events that take place in and around golf.  He's not always in the scheduled line-up, he doesn't always have a tee-time for every tournament, but you can always expect him at the big events.  That said, he's going against the grain a bit here, as news is in that he's officially agreed to play in a charity Skins game that is being set up and hosted by his fellow golfer, and friend, Notah Begay.

Charity Skins Event at Turning Stone

The event, which as mentioned will be a Skins Game at Turning Stone Resort, will take place next month and the proceeds will be going to a foundation near and dear to Begay's heart.  As you might not know, Begay is the only Native American golfer on the PGA Tour and is the creator of the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge, which will help give money and services to Native American youth in New Mexico and other states.  The money goes to athletics and wellness programs and is a great, great thing.  Tiger Woods will be playing with Begay, a former Stanford teammate, as well as Mike Weir, Camillo Villegas, and others.

Woods Couldn't Play Last Year, Can This Year

According to reports, Woods had planned to play in this event last year, but his knee surgery sidelined that opportunity, so he's making it up to him this time around.  While the Turning Stone Resort is also scheduled to host a Fall Series event, so far it doesn't look like Woods will be in it.  Reports are saying:

"Woods is not expected to play in the PGA Tour event, as it follows the conclusion of the FedEx Cup. Begay’s charity event is the Monday of The Barclays in New Jersey, the start of the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedEx Cup. Woods has never played The Barclays since it became part of the playoffs...Mark Steinberg, his agent at IMG, said Woods has not decided on his schedule for the playoffs."

Great To See Tiger On Board

Nevertheless, great to see Woods lending a hand.  We'll tune in, I know that for sure.
